Supplemental Learning Resources

BCPSone Digital Content

  • In addition to the printed materials with new learning being mailed to students for the weeks of April 6 - April 24, students with internet access continue to have free access to dozens of learning resources through Digital Content on BCPSone.
  • First, students log in to BCPSone using their username and password.
  • Once logged in, students should click Digital Content.

BCPS Reading Resources

All students have access online to thousands of eBooks. Students can use the Digital Content section of BCPSOne to access:

  • Destiny (the school library catalog) which has almost 500 eBooks available. Any book with an “Open” button is available to read online.
  • TumbleBook Library and TumbleBook Cloud Junior which have 100s of eBooks – picture books, chapter books, non-fiction, graphic novels, etc.
  • Baltimore County Public Library which has an extensive collection of ebooks. All BCPS students have a Student Account with the county’s public library system.

  • Josh Gad, the voice of Olaf from Frozen and Frozen 2, is reading story books every night on his Twitter account.

  • Audible is offering free access to dozens of audiobooks for children and teens in both English and Spanish.

BCPS Math Resources

All students have access online to free math programs. Students can use theInstructional and Productivity Tools section of BCPSOne to access:

  • Dreambox which has over 1,800 customized math lessons presented as animated adventures, games, and challenges.
  • Pearson which has grade level curriculum resources for students in grades 3-5.

  • Have a math scavenger hunt at home! Challenge your child to see  how many items they can find around the house or outside in the neighborhood. As they find items that illustrate the various concepts, they can either describe their findings in writing, or they can take a picture of it.   • Discovery Education which has tons of STEM videos, activities, and even virtual field trips!
  • BrainPOP and BrainPOP Jr. which have kid-friendly videos explaining almost any topic your child can think of!

Just for Fun! Resources & Ideas

Parents, don’t forget to have some fun with your children during this time away from school. Playing with your kids creates authentic opportunities for developing logic, strategic thinking, and reasoning skills. Even more importantly, playing games together helps enforce concepts such as taking turns, sharing, and how to win & lose graciously. Additional resources and ideas will be updated regularly below:

  • From Mrs. Styer: warm weather is great for taking a walk andcollecting sticks and stones for painting and decorating with markers.Fun with found materials.
  • Do an outdoor scavenger hunt together! The Buggy and Buddy website has a list of 30 different scavenger hunts for children (and grown-ups) of all ages!
