From the
Principal’s Desk… October 2008
We have had a very smooth
and successful beginning to the 2008-2009 school year. We appreciate
everyone’s support and help in making sure that our school is a safe
place to learn. The change to the parking lots has ensured that
there is less traffic in the front parking lot where students are
being dropped off. In addition, we would like to thank all parents
for saying goodbye to their children in the car, under the canopy,
or in the front lobby. Our students are independently walking to
their classrooms and unpacking their book bags. Not only does this
promote independence in our students, but it helps teachers focus
solely on their students and allows all staff to better monitor the
hallways.
We would like to thank all of the
parents/guardians who attended Back to School Night and Gradual
Entrance Meetings for prekindergarten and kindergarten. Your
attendance at these meetings was appreciated by the entire staff and
your children!!! It is very important for parents and guardians to
meet their child’s teacher, understand grade level expectations, and
experience the learning environment.
Beginning with this school year, we will no
longer have Principal’s Honor Roll. It has been eliminated due to
the unnecessary stress it places on many of our students. The
criteria of all A’s and 1’s for Principal’s Honor Roll demands
absolute perfection. The entire staff wants and strives for our
students to work hard and do their very best, but we are not
insisting on perfection. The other categories of Honor Roll, Effort
Honor Roll, Improved Academic, Improved Effort, and Outstanding
Attendance will still be distributed quarterly.
Thank you for all of your support,
